Phoenix Group, the UK’s largest long-term savings and retirement business, has partnered with mental health activist Gail Porter to support National Inclusion Week 2020.
The FTSE 100 business is marking National Inclusion Week with a series of virtual events attended by over 200 employees across the UK, to raise awareness of the importance of an inclusive workforce and reiterate the organisation’s long-term commitment to embracing difference in all its forms.
Phoenix Group, a signatory to HM Treasury’s Women in Finance Charter – which aims to build a more balanced and fair industry, has long advocated for diversity and inclusion in the corporate workplace. The Group is committed to promoting the diversity agenda empowering a wholly inclusive workforce. As part of this pledge, there are eight inclusion networks in operation across the Group; Affinity (focused on LGBT), Armed Forces Network, Balance (focused on gender equality), Carers Network, Mind Matters (focused on mental health), Mosaic (focused on diversity and inclusion), PYPN (Professional Young Persons Network focused on young people) and This is Me, a newly formed network which will focus on disabilities. Each internal network is sponsored by members of the Executive Committee, to demonstrate the importance placed on colleague collaboration and employee voice.
Inclusion ambassador Gail Porter ran an exclusive session with Phoenix colleagues to celebrate National Inclusion Week as part of her ongoing work aiming to end any stigma about mental health and to create a full inclusive society where everyone is accepted for who they are.
Guest speaker Gail Porter comments;
“I am a strong advocate for creating a fully inclusive society where we can all be accepted for who we are – in both our personal and professional lives. I enjoyed speaking to Phoenix about my mental health journey and the company’s ability to embrace difference in all its forms can only be a good thing for its colleagues.”
Sally Glarvey, Head of CSR, Diversity and Wellbeing at Phoenix Group adds;
“It is vital that businesses show their support for inclusion and diversity in the workplace, not just during National Inclusion Week, but every day. Through our industry leading initiatives, from our Group internal networks to our diversity and inclusion goals, we are committed to creating and sustaining an environment of equal opportunity for all.”
National Inclusion Week runs from Monday 28th September – Friday 4th October
