Life and pension firm Phoenix Group is proud to support National Walking Month 2017. Working with Living Streets charity they have sponsored a new Crumbs City Trail mobile app, inviting the London community to explore a cultural walk around the streets of St Paul’s Cathedral whilst boosting their daily step count.
The theme for this year’s National Walking Month is ‘Walking Cities’ so what better way than to create a trail taking in the historical and natural sites around the streets of St Paul’s; on the doorstep of the Group’s head office.
The trail covers approximately 3,000 steps within the hour, contributing towards the recommended 10,000 steps per day. Participants will get to see famous buildings, relaxing secret city gardens, ruins from the Great Fire and the Blitz, whilst walking along some of London’s oldest shopping streets.
To launch the new trail, staff from Phoenix Group participated in a led walk with Living Streets, using the Crumbs City Trail mobile app to guide the way.
Lucy Symonds, Corporate Responsibility Manager, Phoenix Group commented: “The Group actively promotes the benefits of walking to staff. It has been great working with Living Streets and Crumbs, developing a tool that will encourage members of our local community to build extra steps into their day.”
Joe Irvin, Chief Executive, Living Streets commented: “Our partnership with Phoenix Group supports our aim to create a walking nation, and they are setting a great example to other businesses in the City by promoting the many benefits that walking can bring through this iconic trail. Not only will their staff be able to enjoy it, but members of the public too.”
